How to Make a Dior Bow

How to Make a Dior Bow, Embellish it and Use it on Your Wedding Stationary and Gifts

 What you will need:

  • Ribbon
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun and glue stick
  • Diamante Embellishment/ Diamante Buckle

  1. Measure and cut your ribbon to size.

(This is a rough guide for sizing. You can make your lengths as long as you like, as long as they decrease in size).

  1. Making Loops.

Take your second longest strip (13.5cm length) and overlap the ends. Secure these with a little bit of glue and allow to cool and dry.

Take your third longest strip of ribbon (9cm length) and again overlap the ends and secure these with a little bit of glue.

With your smallest piece of ribbon, now decide whether you will use a diamante/ rhinestone embellishment or a diamante buckle (these are also known as ribbon sliders), and place it on/ thread through the ribbon to see what it will look like.

  1. Turning your Loops into Bows

Take the Larger Loop and position this in the middle of your long ribbon (30cm length). Pinch the loop in the middle to form a bow shape. Add a small amount of glue in the bend to maintain the bow shape and then affix this to your long length of ribbon with a small amount of glue. Allow to dry.

Take the remaining loop, bend this in the middle to form a second, smaller bow and position this in the middle of the larger bow that you have just attached. Add a small amount of glue in the bend to keep the shape and glue this to the centre of the larger bow.

    1. Looping together.

Take your smallest length of ribbon. (If you have a buckle / diamante ribbon slider, loop this through first before the next step).

Place the small strip vertically over the centre of your double bow.

Overlap these ends and secure with a  small amount of glue onto the back of your bow. Allow to dry.

    1. The finishing touch.

As you turn your bow back over the addition of the smallest piece of ribbon will have created a 'Dior bow' effect. (Picture shows this without the diamante buckle)

If you have not already affixed a buckle then you can easily glue a beautiful embellishment to the middle of your Dior bow.

Choose an embellishment that compliments your wedding theme colour or to add a touch of class and sparkle!

Your embellished Dior bow can now be used as a decorative piece! These are popular on wedding stationary, gifts, favours, albums, cakes and can even be worn as an embellished ribbon for your hair!
